Whenever I get chance, I go and see movies alone in theatres. I search perhaps none other than me, answers like what could have been me? In all those characters I try to find out me - the one who is totally copycat of me. "Yes! See even he paints in the math class and not just me." - that gives a lot of relaxation. Since days and weeks that character makes you happy that you are not the sole soul to do it and that effect remains in your mind till a next movie telecast the insides of yours. Yes! Bollywood makes me realise what I am! Sometimes as SID from WAKE UP SID, sometimes as RAJ from DDLJ, sometimes as DJ from RANG DE BASANTI, sometimes as AADITYA KASHYAP from JAB WE MET!"TARE ZAMEEN PAR" was one of them. Like others, I didnt expect that movie to please me but just like others I cried inside innocently. Questions came in mind and shot like an arrow - "What have we done with our life? with our childhood? something which was too straight and is it that we made it too complicated to come back?"
It's 10.45 pm a sunday night and that movie is telecasted again. I believe that few questions till you answer it remains somewhere in the back office of your sub-consicous mind as it is. Life gives you red signals (Omens as rightly pointed out by Paulo Cohelo in his book - The Alchemist). "Solve it and go further!"
Question is why Ishan crying in climax? He won an award for the best painting. A painting which was going to be printed on the front page of school drawing books. A painting that every child coming next will see and inspire from it. He won and every one, yes mark this every one, clapped for him when he was going to receive his credentials from his principal and still crying?? He made his teacher see defeating. He proved it he is not dumb, fool or crap but crying??
I dont know you guys observed it or not but Ishan wanted nothing but appreciation. Recognition! Applaud! Cheer up! Not to become number one in painting or in other field of life but for his self respect. He wanted his acceptance by the people around him just the way he was. A painter! An observer! A learner though slow but much involved! Not as a calculator or a techno! Did you see him first hesitating to stand up when he was announced as winner? Why should not he hesitate? In fact, appreciation is something that he never got. He was not used to it. His parents and teachers has flooded his mind with rejection. A sheer rejection!
His teacher (Aamir Khan) was more tactful just like Krishna in the Mahabharata. Krishna knew how to make his student being get appreciated, being get rewarded and applauded amongst people. Actually, it's a weakness of human mind that it feels more self confident when more than one human being says it so. He never tries to raise his confidence himself. Though we can not blame a child to build such high will and confidence. Else, how come is he a child? That's the role of a master, a teacher.
Ishan hugged his teacher tightly because his teacher who made him realise who he was! He made Ishan being applauded for his painting - something that always being insulted. There's an Ishan in you and me as well. I know when I write this you can feel that Ishan inside! He cries out everytime his being insulted or rejected. We better find a teacher like Krishna. Should not we?
P.S: Acceptance makes you realise you are as same as others. Most importantly "Respectful!"
I think you are right...coz appriciation is one of the most important thing that boost up even the person who might have lost everything...!!
